Journal Policy

The Journal is published regularly on monthly basis, since 1989 from Lahore.  This journal is meant for all specialities.  
To promote Science and the art of Medicine for the betterment of Public Health.  
To publish original research, review articles, case reports, drug trials, letters to editors, editorials, proceedings of meetings and symposia of all specialities.
The journal is run by the Pakistan Medical Academic Association (PMAA).  Articles are received through online submission by e.mail as well as by the post.  Every received article is first examined by Editorial Board and then undergoes a Blind Peer Review process.  All articles are reviewed by two different referees.  Our Peer Review Committee has members from within and from outside the country.  Different Foreign Experts are also included in our Editorial Board.  Every article is scrutinized for plagiarism.  Our request for impact factor has been accepted by Thomson Reuter and being processed.  The formatting applied to our articles is based purely on international standards.  Instructions to Authors are printed inside the journal.  
Our website is being regularly maintained.  At the end of each year, we regularly publish a Subject and Author Index for that year.  The journal also undergoes an internal and external audit at the end of every fiscal year.

A. References From The Journal

1. Standard Journal

  • Name (s) of Author (s) then after each name add Coma and at the end of last name up to six names add full stop Or if the name of authors more than six then add after six names coma and word and then full stop.
  • Title of the Article then at the end full stop
  • Journal’s name (Abbreviated)  year then at the end semi colon
  • Volume (Number) then at the end colon
  • Page Numbers first__last then at the end full stop

Guidelines and Instructions to Authors

The Journal MEDICAL FORUM agrees to accept manuscripts prepared in accordance with the Uniform Requirements submitted to the Biomedical Journals published in the British Medical Journal 1991;302:334-41. Revised in February 2006.

Medical forum is a Peer Reviewed Journal of all Specialties. Recognized by PMDC, HEC and Indexed by WHO, EXCERPTA MEDICA, SCOPUS Database, Pakmedinet, National Library of Pakistan, Medlip of CPSP and registered with International serials data system of France.

Basic Requirement

The material submitted for publication should be forwarded containing;

1) 3 Hard copies of Laser Print.

2) 1 Soft copy on a CD.

3) Letter of Undertaking with Authors Name, Address, Mobile Numbers, Degrees, Designations, Department of Posting and Name of Institution.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: It should be of 2000 to 3000 Words, not more than 6 Tables or Figures and at least 20 References but not more than 40.

REVIEW ARTICLE:It should be of 3000 Words with at least 40 References but not more than 60.

SHORT COMMUNICATIONS OR CASE REPORTS: It should be 600 Words with one Table or Figure and 5 References.

LETTER TO EDITOR: It should be 400 Words with 5 References.

TITLE OF THE ARTICLE; Accurate, Effective and Represent the main message of Article.


In Original Article, It should consist of the following seven subheadings: Objective, Study Design, Place and Duration of study, Materials & Methods, Results, Conclusion & Key Words and  should not more than 250 Words.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

The second part consists of Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and References

References should be entered in text Vancouver Style  in ascending order and in shape of numbers & superscript (e.g. 1,2,3,4)


The start of the introduction should be Relevant. Reasons and Importance of the study should be clear. Give only strictly pertinent References and do not include data or conclusions from the work being reported.


The Population taken for the study should be uniform and Sample selection criteria should be reliable. Inclusion & Exclusion criteria should be clearly specified.


Present yours results in a logical sequence in the Text, Tables, Illustrations, figures and Graphs.


Emphasize the new and important aspects of the study and conclusions that follow from them.


In this link write the goals of the study.


 When appropriate, may be included.


List of all contributors who do not meet the criteria for Authorship, such as a person who provided purely technical help, writing assistance or department chair who provided only general support. Financial & Material support should be acknowledged.


It should be in the Vancouver style. References should be numbered in the order in which they are cited in the text. At the end of the article, the full list of references should give the names and initials of all the authors. (if the authors are more than 6, then et al should be followed after the 6th name). Vancouver Style should be used like’ The healing of tissues by C02 laser. Br J Surg 1971;58:222-5.

Article Requirements

The Requirements for printing of your valuable articles in ‘Medical Forum Monthly’ are as follows:

ØFor Original Article:

oAround 2,000 words, but not exceeding 3,000 words.

oNot more than 6 tables or illustrations.

oNo less than 20 references & No more than 40.

oAbstract not more than 250 words.

ØFor Review Article:

oAround 3,000 words.

oNo less than 40 references & No more than 60.

ØFor Short Communications:

oAround 600 words.

oOne Table or Illustration.

oNo more than 5 References.

ØFor Letters:

oAround 400 words.

oNo more than 5 references.

ØThree Original Laser Print copies with one CD containing a soft copy of the article will be accepted for printing.

ØConsent letter, in the name of the Editor-in-Chief, which must carry signatures of all the authors of the article.
